My wife and I went to the Melting Pot to celebrate our engagement anniversary. Its exactly a week before Valentine’s Day, so we take the day kind of as our own personal Valentines time. The day has more meaning then a Hallmark holiday.
For those who don’t know, the Melting Pot is a fondue restaurant. They heat up a pot of cheese for you to dunk bread & veggies for an appetizer and for the entree you get your choice of meat, fish and poultry to cook in a pot of flavored broth or oil.
Since it was a special occasion we went with the “feast” which included a melted chocolate dessert. I’ve gone the broth route in the past and it was good. Last night we went European style, using the hot oil. Wow… that added a tasty new dimension to the fondue fun. In addition to the sauces they gave us two kinds of batter to coat our meat and veggies in for another option in the hot oil.
Before we’d done this with a group, so the pot got a little crowded and you really had to watch your protocol with the cooking spears. With just the two of us it was more relaxed and a lot more fun I thought. A great way to spend the evening. I also enjoyed Paradise Punch with was very heavy in rum, that made the evening extremely rosy and relaxed as well.
